8th Grade Learning Objectives: Students will “examine the weaknesses of the federal government under the Articles of Confederation and how they impacted the economy of the new nation through a warmup,” they will “discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, the plan for governing the Northwest Territory and opening it to settlers, and how Shays' Rebellion influenced leaders to revise the Articles of Confederation through Accountable Talk," they will “assess Topic 2, Lesson 1 through an Anticipation Guide,” and they will "examine the Articles of Confederation through reading and discussion of the early Constitution," they will "analyze Shays' Rebellion through a Primary Source Rewrite Activity," and they will "discuss the Revolution's legacy, who led the Constitutional Convention, the main differences between the two rival plans for the new Constitution, and how much power the federal government should have and what it should do through Accountable Talk."
