8th Grade Learning Objectives: Students will “explain why the Union victories at Vicksburg and Gettysburg helped turn the war in the Union’s favor,” they will “describe Grant’s plan for ending the war and the war’s outcome,” they will “identify Lincoln’s hopes for the Union after his reelection,” and they will “summarize why the Civil War marked a turning point in American history.”
8th Grade Learning Objectives: Students will “describe the nation’s economic, political, and social problems after the Civil War,” they will “identify the steps that were taken initially during Reconstruction,” they will “explain how the assassination of Lincoln and the inauguration of a new President led to conflict,” and they will “summarize the goals of the Freedmen’s Bureau.”
