8th Grade Learning Objectives: Students will “explain the Boston Tea Party, and what British actions after it heightened tensions among the colonists,” they will “explain actions the First and Second Continental Congress enacted to address the crisis with Britain,” they will “describe the advantages and disadvantages of Britain and the colonists as the war began,” and they will “describe ways that the British Parliament punished the colonists for the Boston Tea Party.”
8th Grade Learning Objectives: Students will “summarize the main ideas of the Declaration of Independence,” they will “describe the challenges faced by the Continental Army at the beginning of the war,” they will “discuss what helped turn the tide of the war,” and they will “describe the impact of Thomas Paine’s pamphlet, Common Sense.”
